We’d love you to consider working with us, solo artist, band, whatever, as long as you’re reasonably in our musical wheel-house (we don’t know exactly how to define that, but it involves guitars) then we’d love to have a chat.

Here’s what we do for our artists, in a nutshell

  • Talk about them a lot, here (you’d get an artist profile page here) and on socials
  • Promote new releases via a variety of channels – global radio (more below), social, streaming, pro radio pluggers
  • We can (although don’t have to) do your digital distribution
  • Physical media releases, CD, Vinyl, short-run lathe cuts
  • Advise and help artists with such items as PRO / publishing / mech royalties / sync opportunities
  • Help get gigs (esp in the NW of England)

Here’s what we don’t do, just so you know

  • Compromise your ownership of your material, not one iota
  • Tell you what to play/write/record
  • Interfere in your art in any way
  • Run your social media
  • Use any paid streaming playlisting services
  • Use any Groover / Submithub / MusoSoup services
  • Anything related to A.I. music creation

What “Deals” Do We Do?

It depends on what you want to achieve – basically fall into the following broad categories but everything is going to be tailored to the artist to some extent.

1. Global Radio Promo

Good Stock Records has a massive network of radio stations, podcasters, reviewers and bloggers across the globe that gladly receive our promo features about our acts’ latest release.

Generally speaking, we will aim to push your new release out to 13,000+ associates, who know the type of acts we look after and a very happy to get the songs on rotation across the globe.

This ecosystem then feeds down into social media, in the week following one of our radio campaigns expect to be on blog platforms, review platforms, and on rotation worldwide.

Here’s a graphic showing the radio spins according to Apple for Artists, the spikes here show the first song we released for the artist spiking on radio, then 6 weeks later a second track pumped things up again, and now there’s a healthy ongoing rotation of the whole back-catalogue.

The Global Radio Promo hits can be done on an ad. hoc. basis, with us taking no claim on streams or publishing royalties at all, effectively the campaign is paid for as a one off contribution to the label.

Whether the artist wants to do that again or not for their next release is up to them, there’s no short-term or long-term tie in on this deal, it’s a “per-shot” model.

Oh, did we say we have a radio-show of our own, hosted by The Fods, which goes out every 2 weeks live, and then is syndicated world-wide across dozens of other stations. A spin on The Word Of The Fods is a sure fire way to get the word around, and Good Stock artists will enjoy top billing.

Good for artists who:

  • are already set up with digital distribution
  • don’t want to dilute their streaming revenue
  • want a massive bump in worldwide visibility
  • want to try things out first on a pay-as-you-go basis
  • get a kick out of real people Shazam-ing their songs across the world

2. Ongoing Distribution

We can handle all the digital distribution for you. If you are not wanting to set up a new distributor account, or are coming to the end of your subscription with your existing, then we can take that on, across the whole catalogue.

We would then undertake all digital release admin for new material, and as much as the back-catalogue as you wish. We would then plan a number of the Global Radio Promo campaigns around new releases and then specific back-catalogue items over the course of several months ,for as long as you’re happy to work with us.

This service doesn’t have any up-front or ad. hoc. costs, and the Global Radio Campaigns are included gratis. The way this service is funded is through a 50/50 share of all streaming revenues (until either of us wants to move away), which is undertaken through our own label-centric digital distribution, with completely open transparent reporting. This also saves the artist from having to pay their own distributor.

It’s in our interests then to get you to go viral, hence we’ll be planning the whole thing from release admin, to radio campaign to all the mechanics of getting your streaming royalties paid out.

Good for artists who:

  • don’t want to be bothered with their own distribution
  • want all of the good stuff mentioned in the radio campaigns above
  • want to pay nothing at all and only ever receive money from us

3. Physical Media Releases

Good Stock Records has relationships and direct capability with CD releases, vinyl releases, lathe cuts. We can also help with minidisc and cassette through our local friendly associates if it’s a niche-media angle you want to pursue.

Every artist and release is going to be different here, but the things that you can consider doing through us:

  • Part funding a release through a profit sharing initiative
  • Per-Sale Revenue Share – the artist collects profit on every unit sold, rather than the label needing to recoup all costs first
  • Looking at grant funding and crowd funding options
  • Having us deal with the mechanics of getting the manufacturing done

We have sold records and CDs through the label Bandcamp & Subvert accounts, but the artist is fully able to sell them themselves at gigs, through their own sales channels, of course. We also look at consignment sales through record stores local to the artist, or through more (inter)national store presences (we have sold through large outlets such as Rough Trade, NYC)

In summary we’ve got all the manufacturing and production down, and putting out a run of 100 CDs is a cinch. On pressed vinyl we can get units costs down to sensible levels on runs of 250 or above, making a profitable venture for the artist (and yes, the label too)

Below that size of pressing run it would be a case of understanding the audience and balance of funding that the label, artist and 3rd parties can put in – but we’d help arrange and assess that at the time.

We can also handle small-run lathe cuts, generally as memento or “special occasion” releases – lathe cuts are expensive per-unit but are a great promo or prize giveaway for your fans without a massive financial investment up front.

4. Other Stuff You Might Need

In order to fully benefit from our services, we always recommend that an artist has a comprehensive publishing , mechanical and performing royalty set up – this ensures revenue comes back to you from radio airplay and also through gigging.

We also think that artists should be thinking “sync” opportunities too, so we can help you get involved in that even though

We can advise on how to go about doing all of that, although ultimately ownership of your own rights, and pushing tracks for sync is something that you should manage yourself (or with the help of a sync agency, which isn’t our bag!) – we would just advise on how you get all that set up if it isn’t already.
