The Emperor
The Emperor is a brooding alt / grunge epic, telling an ominous allegory of unworthy leaders – drawing inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s classic folktale The Emperor’s New Clothes – framing it as a lens to view 21st-century polarisation. The song portrays a vain, authoritarian figurehead who thrives on societal division.
Over the course of 6 and half minutes, hear how Headphone Jacks ultimately position the youth as the necessary force to see through the illusion and reunite a fractured public.
